[music |Hotel California, stuck in my head]

So as I was driving back from Massachusetts, I drove through Central and Eastern Pennsylvania. In parts of Central Pennsylvania, there are five country stations in a row. FIVE.

Now, from what I gather, everyone in this community is supposed to be a real music geek, and I was wondering what the most frustrating kind of music, the kind of music you cannot STAND is. The kind if you were trapped in a car for ten hours, and it was the only thing that was on the radio, would cause you to kill yourself. Like "Hotel California," or TATU.

Anybody?

Hello, everyone. My name's Callan, I've just joined the group, so I was just wondering if anything was going on. And the Icon, its odd but what can I say, I like Inuyasha, I'm an anime person. I like a variety of music, I like classical, Nine inch nails, marilyn manson, Melissa Kaplan, Utada Hikaru, Sheryl Crow, Eighties music, Ella Fitzgerald, I like musicals. After college I want to go culinary school. Thats really it about me at the moment. oH I found this quiz, it seems morbid and gross but I thought it was interesting :)

If i was a serial killer i would be Jack the Ripper.

Jack the Ripper, by far the most notorious killer of all time. What would drive a man to kill 5 prostitutes, surgically mutilate the bodies, then stop, to never be heard from again? Most of the murders were pretty much the same, the victim had her throat cut and her abdomen exposed, the intestines were placed over her right shoulder and sometimes a kidney or even the heart had been removed.

Jack the RIpper's murders are still unsolved.

Kill count: 5

Find what serial killer you would be, Take the Serial Killer Quiz now!

[music |The Magnetic Fields - Washington DC]

Through the course of being consulted about personal madness, I have been asked to write down a strong emotion I've felt during the day and the thought that was behind it. I can't really see the relevance of this exercise, but it did bring to mind the strange realization that I rarely encounter truly intense, overwhelming, head-over-heels emotions. I can't say I have a problem with it, since it keeps me at a relatively even keel, and it makes the truly wild emotional moments all the more important, but it does feel a little odd to really acknowledge the steadiness of my emotional state.
So, question to all: How strongly do you feel, and is your strength of response (or lack thereof) a good thing? Would you change it if you could?

I am so gay for Billy Idol. Oh my gosh, I can't stand it. Most of his songs may be entirely identical (white wedding? rebel yell? who cares!), he may be a little too pretty for his punk-rock period, but those are hardly reasons not to break it down superstarstyle when "Dancing With Myself" comes on the radio. Which it rarely does. But when it does, it's so worth it.

And Danny Phantom, on Cartoon Network. He's half kid, half ghost. Who can argue with that? Well, a lot of people. But not me!

What else...I love coconut, which in this world is surprisingly rare. Most people flip out about coconut: you either love it or hate it, and I love it despite all I've been told. That's not so much guilty, though, as awesome.

Lesse, well i like to play Role playing games, especially anything WOD. but only old WOD, like Vampire the Masquerade or Werewolf the Apocalypse. I would play every week for hours on end while the people would break every once in a while for a clove break (oh oh look at me! fake goth kid! or at least that's what cloves scream to me when being smoked by kids in all black with black eyeliner on :p)

I love eighties music, especially glam rock :p dunno why though, oh yeah and gotta love the Cure. and old NIN. oh and Nirvana. any ways while we're on music, I love Phil Collins, Genesis was the shite, and i'm enthused with alot of 80's goth bands. Dunno why, i mean after all most their music sucked, but still ^^.

I also love retro clothing, Thrift stores are my best friend *tear*. Of course i also like B movies and alot of other cheesy stuff. Bruce Campbell is the man, especially when playing Ash.

Oh and did i mention i use Linux? and Windows? did i mention i have windows 1.0? lol I'm a computer tech it's amazing what stuff you can find.

Let's beat this community back to life! I have nothing better to do right now that post in it, so here goes:

This community is evidently set up for the tragically hip. I know everyone, or nearly everyone in here is an indie-rock-classic-movie-loving scenester, but deep down inside, everyone has something that they love, regardless of its distinct lack of cultural clout.

We all have some dorky love burried deep down in that special place in our hearts reserved for things that were cool in middle school. Like scrunchies, or microwave mac and cheese, or Pogs.

Me? I have a secret (well, not so much anymore) and intense love for KISS. Hell, hair metal in general. It's distasteful, loud, obnoxious, frightful, uncool, and I love it!

Let's let it all out, post your own uncool love, let's cry it from the rooftops, pour out our souls to the world! Step back from our pretentious intellectualism to proclaim love for the Smurfs, or your old acid washed jeans, or leggings, or Sky Dancers, or WHATEVER!

Post pictures, lyrics, anything, bleed yourselves dry, people!

GO!

[music |The Decembrists - July, July!]

In the past two weeks, I've had two very sincere offers of religion as a solution to my problems. I've been told that, if I give myself over to a higher power, perhaps I can foist my fears off onto him/her/it/them, too.

How do you feel about belief as self-medication?
